A Day in the Life of Jewels, My Horse
by Micah Jones for Equine 103
Hello, my name is Jewels. I am a girl horse. I’m tan with a white diamond shape on my forehead. I love running.
What a lovely morning. Oh, look, oats. Mmmmm, oats. There is my owner coming to clean my stable. It is so warm and the sun is out. There isn’t a cloud in the sky. I am going to walk around a bit.
This afternoon my owner groomed me. I love being groomed. It feels so good. After she groomed me my owner put some fresh hay in my stall. It smelled so good. After I ate my owner said, “Riding time Jewels!” Riding is my favorite time of the day. I love running through the trees with my owner on my back. We started at a trot, then we jogged and then we ran. I wanted to go to the apple tree near our house but my owner said “no Jewels.” We ran in the woods near the stable. It was a great time with the wind in my mane. Then we went back to the stable and she gave me a treat and rubbed my back. Nothing like a good treat at the end of a ride. My owner’s mom called her to come inside the house. I don’t know why. I wish she could stay with me for the rest of the day.
This evening I had hay and an apple for dinner. My owner came back outside and rubbed me on the side.
“Good night, Jewels” she said.
I watched her go inside her house and then I fell asleep.
